A Little Club History

Juniper Green Bowling Club was founded in 1887 making the club 139 years old as of 2026, this also making it one of the oldest sporting facilities although the building itself had to move in 1977 to allow the city by-pass to be built. The clubs green officially opened on the 28th of July 1888 with the Juniper Green pipe band attending, at this time is was viewed as a country club rather than a bowling club. One of the most memorable members within the club was Bob Fordyce, a life long member, being the clubs champion 13 times between 1924 and 1957. Bob was also the president in the bowling club from 1938- 1939, although his presence was lower due to the outbreak of world war 2. Bob had such a large impact on the club that he is still to this day hounored within the club with the Fordyce pairs held every year. Many show up and it is always a full day of fun and food for all players and their families alike.

The club aswell as dominoes also owns a dart bored that is open to members to enjoy if it is not going to disrupt any other functions happening in the club.

A large part of the closed season is the ladies monthly coffee mornings which always seem to be a big hit for everyone involved. More information on this can be found on the clubs Facebook page.
